Really solid analysis on the data shift. The comparison to flu now being more dangerous is wild considering where we were in 2020. I've noticed hospitals in my area have quietly dismantled most of their COVID protocols over the past year which aligns with thes numbers. The part about life expectancy hitting 79 is especially under-reported compared to how much coverage the decline got.

COVID isn’t over for those of us with Long COVID. Research on this condition is still in the early phases, if it’s happening at all. My doctors have no idea what the long term impact on my health may be. They can’t even give me any ideas of how to manage my symptoms. We know it can lower IQ points, and we know that you are more likely to contract Long COVID if your case of it was mild, as mine was. I was fully vaccinated, but contracted a new strain in 2024 that hadn’t been identified. Each person in my household already had a chronic illness, and now we all have Long COVID as well. There isn’t even a diagnosis code for it, and there are so many different ways it can manifest in the body, there should be multiple codes. It’s not over for us, and jubilantly announcing its demise is another nail in the coffin for the research and care people with Long COVID need.
